ST. REGIS LA VEDUTA MENU CONCEPTS
Menus

The St. Regis Hotel in Osaka requested a refreshed menu concept for their Italian restaurant, La Veduta. While the final designs were ultimately not implemented due to changing circumstances, the project involved exploring various layout and design directions.

The client took particular interest in the following areas:

  • in-house reproducibility and future-proof adaptability;

  • bilingual presentation in English and Japanese;

  • (most importantly) embodying the Italian spirit of la dolce vita—"the good life"

GRAND MENU

The Dinner Grand Menu featured three different course options (2 shown below).

To allow for continuous in-house updates, Google Fonts, which are freely available and licensed for commercial use, were employed. The menu was designed in both English and Japanese, with careful attention to typographic balance and readability in both languages. A natural downward flow made the menu easy to navigate, and designing on standard A4 paper ensured that they could reprint the menu without relying on specialized printing services.

LUNCH MENU

Lunch at La Veduta was intended to be a lighter, yet still refined experience. The restaurant’s existing lunch menu folios were smaller and narrower in shape to reflect that tone. However, to accommodate the frequently changing dishes and ingredients, the client requested a design that could be easily printed on standard A4 paper. Shown here is a version that meets both the visual intent and the practical printing requirement.

WINE MENU

La Veduta’s wine selection is extensive, and the design needed to reflect both flexibility and scalability. Wines that were no longer available could be easily removed, while new vintages could be added without disrupting the layout. To soften the overall look and avoid a harsh or overly commercial feel, the prices were styled in a muted grey.
